Ministry of Textiles observes Swachhta Pakhwada

Swachhta Pakhwada was observed by the Ministry of Textiles from May 1 - 15, 2017. The fortnight-long observance of programmes to spread the message of cleanliness was inaugurated by Ajay Tamta, Minister of State, Textiles, in Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi, on 1st May. Administering the Swachhta Pledge to the officers and staff of the ministry, Tamta said that the mission of Swachh Bharat will become a reality if every one of India's 125 crore citizens make up mind to neither litter nor let others to do it. The minister said Swachhta should be looked upon as everyone's responsibility, and not just that of the workers involved in cleaning.
A seminar on the theme "Waste to Wealth" was organized during the swachhta pakhwada. Mr. Tamta visited Power loom Service Centres in Delhi and Silk Cluster in Haridwar for a special swachhta drive. During the Pakhwada, National Institute of Fashion Technology made films on "Waste to Wealth" and promoted its students as volunteers to lead youth teams for Swachhta activities in all Weavers' Service Centres. Special drives on swachhta like dusting and cleaning of office equipment , cleaning of common passages and open areas, disposal of all unserviceable articles, repairing of broken fixtures, weeding out of old files and records, were undertaken in all office premises.
