I am a physics graduate. I want to study M. Sc. Nenoscience at Amity University or IITs. But I can't find out the syllabus of the entrance test. Plz , give me the website that I find out the syllabus of the entrance test and other information about the test. Sir, plz reply soon I am very worried about this?

Amity University does require Amity Common Admission Test (AMCAT) for P G courses but it is usually for admission to various management related programmes. The Amity Admission Prospectus 2007 available on www.amity.edu and www.amityuniversity.ac.in does not indicate the need for any entrance test for admission to M Sc Nanoscience, but an interview is indicated.

I want to work in DRDO as STA 'Electronics' what is the selection procedures. How should I prepare with which reference book?

For Senior Technical Assistant (Electronics) you need B Sc in Electronics or Three years Diploma in Electronics Engineering from recognized university/ Institute. The recruitment notification or the link given therein would give you more specific information. The written test/ interview would be assessing your suitability for the post as also your knowledge of your discipline. I doubt there is a book for it, other than your textbooks, for handling technical questions during written test/ interview that forms a part of the selection process. However, you may search for suitable books at the bookstores stocking books for competitive exams.

I am a postgraduate in Geology with 60% marks in the finals. Also having 70% marks in B.Sc. (Geology). How can I et a job in Geology? Presently, I am working as Tax Assistant with the Income Tax Department since 11 years. Kindly guide me to get a better job satisfaction?

Geology is the science which studies the Earth's history, composition and structure. The study of geology incorporates many areas such as mineralogy (its composition, location and origin); paleontology (study of fossils); structural geology (study of forces working on the earth's crust); geomorphology (the study of the formation of the earth's crust with its various land forms). Most geologists work or supervise exploration work at a variety of sites-deserts, land forms, ocean floors, riverbeds, mountains, etc. Research as well as scientific study is generally carried out by most organizations involved in geological work. Geological work involves location of physical data and material by drilling of deep holes to obtain samples for studying materials found on or near the earth's surface and in the sea. Geologists also work in the laboratory for conducting research. Research work involves the study of samples from the earth or seabed. Rocks, fossils soil are some specimens which are studied, data is analysed, compiled and reports are prepared. They also study the flow of oil and water through rocks. A geologist's work can be laboratory based or field based. Field jobs involve traveling and working outdoors often in difficult situations. Much work is done indoors on the computer. Geologists work in the private sector as consultants or are involved in exploration and survey. Several government organizations also employ Geologists where survey or exploration work has to be done. Geologists are recruited with companies such as Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC), Hindustan Zinc Ltd, Coal India, Mineral Exploration Ltd.

What is the scope for M.Sc. in bioinformatics & which are the best institutes for it?

Bioinformatics deals with methods for storing, retrieving and analyzing biological data. Bioinformatics as a field of study is becoming increasingly important due to the interest of the pharmaceutical industry in genome sequencing projects, which comprise a key segment of the discipline. Bioinformatics uses computer software tools for database creation, data management, data warehousing, data mining and global communication network. For admission into Bio-informatic course, a postgraduate degree in Biotechnology, Physics, Mathematics, chemistry, Microbiology, Botany, zoology, Agriculture or Veterinary Sciences is required. Those with an MCA degree or Engineering degree can also apply. One needs to be either a biologist with a certain degree of computer knowledge edge or a computer professional with a serious interest in biology. For increased career opportunities, possessing both skill-sets is a good idea though employers usually desire knowledge in computer applications. Some of the institutes who offer advanced courses are: Madurai Kamraj Univ., Madurai; Indian Institute of Technology (Delhi, Mumbai, Kharagpur, Kanpur); University of Pune, Pune; Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh; Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore; B.H.U. Varanasi; Bose Institute, Kolkata; Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad; Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi; Bioinformatics Institute of India, Delhi; CCS Univ., Meerut; Pondicherry Univ., Pondicherry, Instt. of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology G-05, Tech Park Mall, ITPL, Whitefield Road, Bangalore-560066. For M.Sc. the requirement is B.Sc. (Biology Group) and for P.G. Diploma, the eligibility is generally M.Sc. in any branch of Biological Sciences e.g. Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, M.B.B.S., M.E., M.C.A., M.V.Sc. Bioinformatics as a profession is coming into wave in various developed as well as developing countries. Persons trained in Bio-Informatics are welcome especially in companies related to drug development, chemicals, hybrid plants, petroleum derivatives. Bio-Informatics plays a key role in arising new research outputs. There are enormous prospects in R D Organisations, software companies and Govt. organizations. Bio Informatics Industry requires experts from various fields like Micro Biology, Molecular Biology, Biophysics, Bio-statistics, Maths, Graphics designing and Genomics etc.

What could do if finished doing B.Sc Chemistry?

The study of chemistry leads to a variety of careers and professions. Some enter medical, dental, veterinary, or other health professions, while others go for engineering, business, and environment science. Technical writing or sales in chemical marketing are other occupations in which a chemistry background is helpful. B.Sc (Chem.) are employed in the companies that manufacture practically everything organic- drugs, food, cosmetics, textile, or chemicals. Food processing and pharmaceutical industries employ chemistry graduates as technical assistants. Chemistry graduates can also get jobs in quality control, analysis and testing, or in technical sales and services. Master's degree holders in chemistry generally find employment in one of three areas; Industry, Government, and Education. In industry, they may undertake research and development, quality control sales and technical service, technical or general management. They increasingly work in marketing. The may sell and provide technical information on chemical products and services. In addition, the government departments like water, soil conservation, forensic science, customs, industrial safety departments employ them in scientific analysis, research, policy development and administration. To do research, or to teach in colleges and universities, a Ph.D. is generally needed. You may work as a biochemist, biotechnologist, chemical engineer, food scientist, forensic scientist, environmental scientist, mining engineer petroleum engineer, etc.

sir; i am a final year mechanicl engg: student. plese tell what is the way to enter in HAVAC&OIPING DESIGN? IF THERE IS ANY COURSE IS AVAILABLE , THEN WHAT IS THE GROWTH IN THIS FIELD AND SALARY?

The prospects for a skilled HVAC technician are bright from the perspective of securing employment as also setting up an own business. There is no sign of any slackening in the demand for professionals in this specialized area. On the contrary, the number of new constructions requiring new equipment to be installed is on the rise. In addition, all equipment already installed stand in need of maintenance, for which skilled and knowledgeable people are currently in short supply in the US. The average hourly earnings for a HVAC technician as per available statistics based on a study conducted in 2002 is $16.78. Institute of Piping Engineering and Building Services based in Hyderabad (www.ipebs.in) offers quality professional training course for Mechanical Engineers in HVAC Design & Drafting. International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (www.cbs.iit.net) also conducts courses in HVAC design. M.tech in Mechanical Engineering conducted by IIT's also normally has courses content in HVAC Design.
